Jazz is a fun, energetic style of dance with a strong technical presence. Students enrolled in Jazz enjoy the freedom and excitement of an upbeat genre, while still benefiting from the technical training that is implemented in each class.
HAIR: Hair is to be worn off the face in all Jazz classes. Dancers are welcome to put their hair in a high or low ponytail or bun. No matter the style, hair must be tied back and free from distraction.
UNIFORM: Black body suits are best suited for Jazz attire. Similar to our ballet guidelines, we understand that all of our dancers come in different shapes and sizes, with that in mind we do not ask that all dancers conform to the exact same style of body suit. Black body suits must be worn, with any chosen sleeve length, best suited for the comfort of each dancer.
Tan or skin-tone tights must accompany your black body suit for Jazz attire. A black wrap-style dance skirt or black spandex shorts may also be worn, but are not mandatory.
Boys may wear a white fitted t-shirt accompanied by black fitted pants, leggings or shorts.
FOOTWEAR: Black leather shoes are required for all Jazz classes. We prefer that students wear shoes with NO laces, similar to the style shown in the image above. If laced shoes are all you have, they will be fine for in-class use. Performing students (including year-end recital) will be expected to have black, leather Jazz shoes with NO laces.
